Provider Licensure Board Information

Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) in Texas are regulated by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC), which oversees the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists and the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners.

These boards establish professional standards, regulate licensure, and investigate complaints in the State of Texas.

Filing a Complaint

To file a complaint regarding professional conduct or licensure, visit www.bhec.texas.gov
and navigate to the “Discipline and Complaints” section, or call (800) 821-3205.

Complaints are reviewed and investigated by the Behavioral Health Executive Council in accordance with Texas law.

Good Faith Estimate

Under the No Surprises Act, clients who do not use insurance have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining the expected cost of services.

You have the right to receive a written estimate of expected charges for non-emergency services before scheduling.

​

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may dispute the charges.
